After a whole-class mini-lesson on how to write a summary using nonfiction text, Miss Roeckle works with a small group of students. This particular group meets with her once a week. During each conference, she gives descriptive feedback on each student's writing. She always shares something positive before giving him/her a suggestion for improvement.
At the end of writers' workshop, students have the opportunity to share writing in author's chair. Typically three-four students have the opportunity to share each day.
